The Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Collaborative (AMAC) is a one-stop solution for recruiting and training skilled workers in supply chain automation and is powered by employers, education institutions, and workforce organizations. We help employers develop and expand customized training programs to shore up their supply chain talent pipelines while raising productivity, increasing recruitment and retention, and improving worker morale through Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs.

We are committed to promoting RAs to advance supply chain and manufacturing careers and provide many different types of support and services to RA sponsors.

Why Advanced Manufacturing?

Advanced manufacturing drives the U.S. economy, powering critical sectors such as aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, shipbuilding, semiconductors, and nuclear energy. While workforce shortages can limit manufacturers’ ability to expand, innovate, and compete, RA is a proven workforce strategy that helps manufacturers recruit, train, upskill, and retain skilled workers.

In 2025, there were over 97,500 apprentices served in advanced manufacturing occupations, a 20 percent increase over the past five years. As technology, automation, and AI reshapes the industry, RA helps employers build the talent needed for today’s production environments and future growth.

Connect with an AMAC team member to find out if your occupation(s) is aligned to the supply chain automation sector. You can also explore all approved occupations for RA here: https://www.apprenticeship.gov/apprenticeship-occupations.

“For a young person starting their career or someone seeking a career change, Registered Apprenticeships provide pathways to the middle class,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor. “This earn-as-you-learn model is helping to grow our economy and supports the strategy to ensure access to good jobs, a key to a successful economic recovery.”

Why Choose the RA Pathway?

RA is an industry-driven career pathway that helps employers develop
skilled workers through paid, hands-on experience, mentorship, progressive wages, and classroom instruction. Programs are approved by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) or a State Apprenticeship Agency and lead to a portable, nationally recognized credential.

Through RA, manufacturing companies:

  • Hire & develop skilled talent: Recruit new workers or upskill current employees for skilled roles.
  • Deliver hands-on training: Train apprentices through structured, supervised work experience.
  • Provide technical training: Build job-specific knowledge through classroom or technical instruction.
  • Reward progress: Increase wages as apprentices build skills and
  • experience.
  • Develop credentialed talent: Build a skilled workforce with
  • nationally recognized credentials.
  • Retain skilled workers: Achieve 93% employment retention among
  • apprentices after completion.
  • Realize a return: See a 44.3% return on investment in RA
